Will Chiang Wan-an win the next Taipei Mayor election?

The price may be shaded by cross-strait noise and occasional polls showing a competitive race. For the Yes to win, Chiang needs to hold the KMT base, avoid a major scandal and preserve his advantage in the city's districts. Under the current configuration, that is the base case.

The main risks are a major corruption scandal, the emergence of a charismatic unified opposition candidate, or a sharp shift in the foreign-policy agenda that mobilizes protest voters. The idea would be invalidated by a sustained drop in Chiang's approval below 40% or opposition consolidation behind one strong challenger.
